Upsherin Invitation Wording — Yiddish & English Examples, With a Photo of Your Son

An upsherin invitation is short and warm: whose upsherin it is, the day, the time and the place. Below is the wording our own upsherin designs use, in Yiddish and in English, what to include, and how to add a photo of your son.

What an upsherin invitation includes

• ✓An opening line — in Yiddish, מיט לויב און דאנק צו השם יתברך; in English, "With gratitude to Hashem".
• ✓The invitation to the upsherin — the word אפשערן (or "Upsherin") is usually the design's title.
• ✓Your son's name — after פון אונזער טייערע זוהן, "of our beloved son".
• ✓The day — the day of the week with the parsha, and often the Hebrew date.
• ✓The place and the time — often at home (ביי אונז אינדערהיים), with the street address and the time in the morning.
• ✓Who is inviting — the parents' names, or the father's name after ידידכם.

Upsherin invitation wording (Yiddish)

This is the wording on our design UP-205, with sample names you replace with your own:

• ✓בס״ד
• ✓מיט לויב און דאנק צו השם יתברך
• ✓ווילן מיר אייך איינלאדענען צום — then אפשערן
• ✓פון אונזער טייערע זוהן — then your son's name, e.g. יעקב קאפל
• ✓וואס וועט אי״ה פארקומען
• ✓דינסטאג פרשת לך לך — the day
• ✓ט׳ חשון תשפ״ז — the date
• ✓ביי אונז אינדערהיים — then the address
• ✓10:00 אינדערפרי
• ✓ידידכם — then the father's name
• ✓בן הר״ר דוב בעריש הי״ו — his father's name

Other designs, such as UP-201 and UP-206, close with the parents' first names (for example מענדי און רייזי) and the family name instead of ידידכם.

A more personal version, from UP-203: מיט פיל לויב און דאנק צו בוכ"ע וויל איך דיר פערזענליך איינלאדענען צו אנטייל נעמען אין די שמחת אפשערן פון מיין זוהן — followed by the day, בביתי with the address, and the time.

Upsherin invitation wording (English)

Our design UP-102 reads:

• ✓"With Gratitude to Hashem"
• ✓"We want to personally invite you to the UPSHERIN of our beloved son" — then his name
• ✓the address and the time, e.g. "11 O'clock in the morning"
• ✓signed with the parents' names, e.g. "Leiby and Leah Greenstein"

Adding a photo of your son

UP-206 and UP-203 have a photo frame: upload a picture of the upsherin boy and adjust the crop in the editor. The other designs are text-only.
